Аннотация

Данная статья посвящена изучению характера англо-французских отношений в контексте их управления подмандатными территориями на Ближнем Востоке в период между двумя мировыми войнами. Уникальная система управления бывшими провинциями Османской империи с использованием мандата Лиги Наций, в которой главенствующую роль играли Великобритания и Франция, является не до конца изученной специалистами по новейшей истории арабских стран Азии. Нельзя отрицать, что мандатная система является одним из факторов, дестабилизировавших ближневосточный регион, который до сих пор сотрясают непрекращающиеся конфликты, имеющие как внутренние причины, так и спровоцированные извне. Ввиду этого представляет отдельный интерес не простое сравнение политики и стратегий, применяемых обеими державами для управления своими подмандатными владениями, а скорее анализ того, как англичане воспринимали французскую стратегию, и наоборот. Такой подход позволяет частично пролить свет на британо-французское видение их собственных целей и задач в данном регионе. В предлагаемой статье также рассматриваются формы сотрудничества и общности интересов обеих держав в том, как управлять территориями, образовавшимися в результате распада Османской империи.

Abstract

This article examines the nature of relations between Great Britain and France in the context of the two countries' administration of mandated territories in the Middle East between the two world wars. The unique system of governing former Ottoman provinces under the League of Nations mandate, in which Britain and France played leading roles, remains insufficiently explored by experts on the modern history of Arab regions in Asia. The mandate system undeniably contributed to destabilizing the Middle East, which is still being shaken by ongoing conflicts with both internal and external causes. In view of this, it is of particular interest to not merely compare the policies and strategies employed by both powers to administer their mandated territories, but rather to analyze how the British perceived the French strategy and vice versa. This approach sheds light on Britain's and France's vision of their respective goals and objectives in the region. The article also examines the forms of cooperation and shared interests between the two powers while governing the territories that had emerged after the Ottoman Empire's collapse.
