Аннотация
Публикация представляет собой критический разбор трудов российских и зарубежных исследователей, связанных с применением фронтирного подхода к изучению колонизации и освоения Сибири в XVII-XIX вв. Особое внимание обращено на избранные статьи и монографии, в которых проводится сопоставление американского и российского опыта, а так же соответствующим новейшим публикациям, еще не подвергавшимся историографическому анализу. Автор статьи проследил как произошло и в чем состоит в современной англоязычной научной литературе различие между терминами border и frontier, и поддержал тезис о необходимости более тщательного использования российскими исследователями соответствующей заимствуемой терминологии. Кроме этого он предложил посмотреть на фронтирные исследования как на частный случай более общего процесса изучения границ и полагает, что у названных исследовательских направлений существует общее предметное поле, а заимствование методологических подходов может дать новые результаты в изучении истории русского продвижения на Восток.
Abstract
The publication is devoted to a critical analysis of the works of Russian and foreign researchers related to the use of the frontier approach to the study of colonization and development of Siberia in the 17th—19th centuries. Particular attention is paid to selected articles and monographs that compare the American and Russian experience, as well as to the latest relevant publications that have not been subjected to historiographical analysis. The author of the article traced how it happened and the difference between the terms «Border» and «Frontier» in modern English-language scientific literature, supporting a thesis that Russian researchers should use borrowed terminology more carefully. It is proposed to consider frontier studies as a special case of a more general process of studying borders. The author believes that these researching areas share a common subject field, and that borrowing methodological approaches may give new results in studying the history of Russian advance to the East.
