Аннотация

В статье освещается тема популяризации нового Гимна СССР, утвержденного 21 декабря 1943 г., в странах – союзниках по антигитлеровской коалиции – Великобритании и США. Она основана на материалах Российского государственного архива социально-политической истории и Архива внешней политики Российской Федерации, большинство из которых впервые вводятся в научный оборот.

Среди этих источников – решение Секретариата ЦК ВКП(б) от 19 января 1944 г. о создании комиссии по переводу текста Гимна на языки народов мира. Данный документ впервые вводится в оборот авторами предлагаемой статьи. В составе этой комиссии функционировала, среди прочего, подкомиссия, которая была призвана утвердить перевод его на английский язык. Ведущая роль в ее работе принадлежала видным советским дипломатам В.М. Молотову, М.М. Литвинову, С.А. Лозовскому и И.М. Майскому. К ней подключился также А.Я. Вышинский, первый заместитель Молотова.

Авторы статьи подробно освещают роль этих представителей руководящего состава Народного комиссариата иностранных дел в создании англоязычного текста Гимна. Особое внимание обращено также на их деятельность по предотвращению коммерциализации этого текста, попытки которой, в частности, предпринимались в США на волне активизации советско-американских межсоюзнических отношений. В этой деятельности большую помощь и содействие членам упомянутой комиссии оказывали советские дипломаты, работавшие в Великобритании и США (В.И. Базыкин, Ф.Т. Гусев, Г.Н. Зарубин, Е.Д. Киселёв, Г.Ф. Саксин.

Abstract

The article discusses the promotion of the new USSR Anthem, ratified on December 21, 1943, in the countries allied in the anti-Hitler coalition — the UK and the USA. The article is based on materials from the Russian State Archive of Social and Political History and the Archive of Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation, most of which are being introduced into academic discourse for the first time.

Among these sources is the decision of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) from January 19, 1944, to establish a commission for translating the Anthem into foreign languages. This document is being introduced into circulation for the first time by the authors of this article. Among other things, this commission included a subcommittee tasked with approving its translation into English. Prominent Soviet diplomats V. Molotov, M. Litvinov, S. Lozovsky, and I. Maisky played a leading role in its work. A. Vyshinsky, who was Molotov's first deputy, also participated.

The authors of the article provide a detailed account of the role these senior officials from the People's Commissariat for Foreign Affairs played in creating the English version of the Anthem. They also focus on their efforts to prevent the commercialization of this text, attempts at which were made in the USA amidst the intensification of Soviet-American alliance relations. In this endeavor, the members of the aforementioned commission received significant assistance from Soviet diplomats stationed in the UK and the USA, including V. Bazikin, F. Gusev, G. Zarubin, E. Kiselev, and G. Saksin.
